“Back to School” favorites from Blogger Bash

August 9, 2016

I recently attended Blogger Bash in New York City and I discovered five great products that I think you all might enjoy now that we are approaching “back to school” season. They were so much to see you while I was there and many products stood out to me as things that not only I would enjoy but things that I thought you all would enjoy as well.

Back to School Products

Here are my top products from Blogger Bash for back to school:

Bixbee backpack
Bixbee:
One thing that everyone returning to school needs is a good backpack. I’m always a fan of any product with the social conscience and Bixbee definitely has one. For every backpack purchase, they donate a schoolbag and supplies to a kid in need. Also all Bixbee products are tested to be lead free, phthalate free, PVC free, and BPA free. Aside from the adorable characters that decorate the bags some of the outstanding qualities they possess are a unique horizontal design, lightweight, durable, contoured straps, side pockets, interior slip pockets, ID badge holder, a padded handle, reflective material, and a reinforced base. And best of all, Bixbee backpacks have a lifetime warranty! If you would like to pick one up for your student for the new school year check out www.bixbee.com and as a special discount for my readers they have provided a discount code for 20% off! Just enter: SWEET2016 (all caps, only one use per customer).

drink box reusableDrink in the Box:

I was like enough to meet up with the representative of this wonderful product during a speed pitching session. We got one on one time for her to be able to tell me all of the wonderful things to love about Drink in a Box. As a mom who focuses a lot on frugal living this product was right up my alley. Anything that is disposable is usually not my favorite product. Drink in a Box is refillable, dishwasher safe, leak proof when closed, scratch/dent/crack proof, and made from US manufactured Tritan™ material. It is a fun, safe, healthier, more convenient way to carry a drink daily for kids on the go. For more information please check out the website for more information: www.drinkinthebox.com

Texas instruments
Texas Instruments:
When you’re thinking of school supplies and quality you really don’t need to look any further than Texas Instruments. Texas instruments his been in business for over 65 years and has been making handheld calculator since 1967. I guarantee at some point one of your kids will come home with the school supply list that includes one of their products. The good news is is that if you invest in a quality piece of equipment from Texas Instruments you can guarantee that it will last. Because we have three kids I am relying on Texas Instruments quality to last through all three without having to be replaced over and over again. Texas Instruments has a great spokesperson/partner in Baltimore Ravens Offensive Lineman John Urschel. He’s currently studying for his PH.D. in mathematics at MIT and he and I had a wonderful chat about living a frugal lifestyle and how wonderfully the Texas Instruments brand his fit into that for him. Visit www.ti.com for more information.

lunch box reusable
Bentology:
One of the things I know that mom’s dread almost as much as a carpool line is making school lunches. The major saving grace around our household is that our family eats “Bento style”. Because two of our three children have food allergies it is important that the meals are somewhat customized without being overwhelming to prepare. Also coming from the frugal living point of view it makes a lot more sense to be able to do small handfuls of food here and there rather than waste things because there is only a little left. We also utilize eating Bento style to convince our children to eat a small container of something they may not like as much but that is good for them in exchange for a small container of something that they may love but isn’t quite as healthy. Bentology comes in many different styles, shapes, and colors and is very customizable. There are also adorable accessories that make eating bento style fun for everyone! Day two started back at check in with a security s Day two started back at check in with a security sweep and then off to visit Mosquito River Lagoon where we learned about the very real impact that the lack of data can have on ecosystems when it comes to unintended impact. Specifically decisions that are made by people that have impact on the environment without data to back up the restoration of the impacted areas. From there we took the bus to visit Launch Pad 40 up close(-ish) and get a look at the Space X Falcon 9 rocket on the pad ready to launch and send the PACE satellite to space. After that we went to the most unassuming building at NASA with probably the biggest impact, Hangar AE- Launch Services Program Communication Center. This is also called the Mission Director’s Center. This is what you see on TV when you see the “command” center. It is actually a series of rooms that are collection and storing data nonstop. We got a chance to practice calling the launch and toured the facility. We even saw the door that had all of the mission director patches on it! We then toured the Cape Canaveral Space Force Museum and got to see a lot of artifacts and interesting items and recreations of the history of the military operations regarding space that happened prior to the Apollo and Shuttle missions. It is also a former launch site, which means I have now seen 3 in real life. Our final stop for Day Two was at the Neil A. Armstrong Operations and Checkout Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. We got to check out the emergency rocket escape vehicle called the MRAP. It is a former military vehicle that has found new purpose after being used in Afghanistan and now is used to protect rocket crews if something goes wrong during launch. As we were leaving we got to do something every single astronaut has done since the start of manned space missions: walk the ramp! This is the same ramp that all astronauts walk down to get into the transport vehicle that takes them to their rocket or shuttle. Day One recap of #NASAsocial for the PACE mission! Day One recap of #NASAsocial for the PACE mission! First, we arrived at press check in & rode the bus to our first stop of the day to spend some time in the classroom learning all about PACE! PACE stands for Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem. Then we headed to the press room & for a press conference for NASAtv with all female scientists & leaders of the PACE mission. This important open sourced data will be an amazing step towards combating climate change. Next we all took a moment to take pictures at the countdown clock & outside of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB). This building is surprising on so many levels. One of the biggest surprises being just how big it truly is. It's sort of an optical illusion from the outside. You cannot truly process it's size until you are inside. Guess what we did next? We went inside of the VAB and geeked out of course! That was a wrap on Day One, and we were gifted admission to Kennedy Space Center, so some of us went over to visit my favorite girl Atlantis. #KeepingPACE PACE will advance the assessment of ocean health by measuring the distribution of phytoplankton, tiny plants and algae that sustain the marine food web. #NASAsocial #KeepingPACE
