“Do, Re, & Mi” is a new preschool show from Amazon Studios about three little bird friends that has taken up filling the gap that early exposure to music education that can fill.
Is Do, Re, & Mi what is missing?
Is it just me or is something missing when it comes to education lately? The “A” in STEAM learning is being trimmed across the country, but something new and necessary has arrived on Amazon Prime just in time for pandemic parented preschoolers to get serious again.
If you’re like me and you’re doing online learning this year (full disclosure we were online learners who homeschooled prior to the pandemic) then you are in the throes of the start of the school year. The transition back into daily school activities is so difficult and so overwhelming until you develop a routine. Currently, we are adjusting as best we can while giving ourselves grace but one of the things that we always find falling by the wayside is our focus on the arts and music education. It feels like just one more thing to do and that it is somehow less necessary than the core subjects.
Music education is far from unnecessary and is in fact vital to children’s development to include the arts and music in a young child’s education. Enter the new Amazon Studios show “Do, Re, & Mi” created by Jackie Tohn and her producing partner Michael Scharf. They are solving the dilemma of easy to access kids preschool programming that brings music back into STEAM education at home. They felt that it was important that music education needed to get into the heads, hearts, and homes of young people around the country and this seemed like a really accessible way to do it. Jackie and her partner Dave co-wrote all 52 songs in the series, which is no small feat. Your child will find that the wonderful music and characters are the perfect way to unlock a curiosity and love of music.
