Into the Unknown with the film premiere of Frozen 2: My Red Carpet Experience (Part Two)

Into the Unknown with the film premiere of Frozen 2: My Red Carpet Experience (Part Two)

Red Carpet Frozen

I found myself walking down a red carpet and into the unknown at the Hollywood premiere for a major Disney film this week. I not only was operating on a mix of excitement and exhaustion, I also had an unbelievable amount of emotion coursing through my body and being worn right on my face around my puffy, sad eyes. To say my eyes where tired was an understatement. I was running behind, and my hair was not washed or brushed, but haphazardly thrown into some form of style. Despite the universe and my empathetic ability to absorb every emotion around me I could not help but be in awe of the position the universe had placed me in and the smile that jumped off of my face.

What did I wear?

I was able to find my dress pretty quickly because I knew exactly how I wanted to look on my very first red carpet. Fortunately, I was able to find the dress very easily and affordably. My main goal for the night was not only looking good, but feeling good. Also, I wanted that confidence to translate into being able to move well enough to do the job I was there to do. I had specific goals in mind and even though I was unsure what to expect, I wanted to be able to hit those goals if possible and not be held back for any reason that I could control. That is the reason I also chose to wear sandals with a long dress!

How did I prepare?

Prior to heading to Los Angeles The Geeklies each had live sessions in a private group on Facebook to talk to us about how we would handle various situations. One of the best things about this trips was not only the sheer amount of exposure we got to experiences that would help us further our own careers, but the invaluable knowledge that each of them passed down to us. Other than having a list of potential celebrities that I would like to have a moment with and doing the research to speak to them intelligently, I decided that it might be best for me to just jump in and let my instincts take over. How can you really prepare for an experience that is not anything close to normal?

How was arrival?

Remember when I mentioned above that my eyes were terribly puffy and sad? Part of that was from what I can only assume what is the air quality in Los Angeles and some sort of allergy or reaction… But a lot of it was from two movies with screened earlier in the day at the Disney lot. I will definitely be putting up a review at some point soon, but needless to say “Lady and the Tramp” and “Noelle” are the two films that are directly responsible for my incredibly puffy eyes. I had many fumbles getting ready because I normally do not wear a lot of make up and so it wasn’t the easiest thing for me to do. Also, we were jam packed on our schedule so we had to get ready quickly. I got it together and we jumped in an Uber to headed to the Dolby Theater to walk the red carpet!

The walk I was waiting for!

The red carpet itself is a blur of activity. So many things going on in so many directions so it was impossible to capture it all (even though I tried). There were bursts of activity as celebrities were being ushered from one interview to the next and from one position to pose to another position further down the line. There seemed to be a constant stream of security guards telling us to “hurry” or “move it along”. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many people yell at me. I had to keep reminding myself that I was there to do a job and that job was to capture the experience and share it with my followers. That is why Disney invited me. That is why I was on one side of the velvet rope and not the other. If I was there as a traditional entertainment journalist I would’ve been on the other side shouting the names of celebrities hoping to lure them over for a quote. Instead they had me on the side with the celebrities to experience the moments and share them with you.

Time to go inside and see the world premiere of Frozen 2…

When it was finally time to enter the theater we actually had a little bit of a journey from the street into the theater itself. Along the way I remembered a piece of advice I got: Stop and pretend to check my phone near the entrance to the theater in hopes of having one of the stars walk by so I could get an exclusive photo before turning my phone off. It was no stretch that I fumbled with my phone because I can never seem to remember how to turn it off. While I played around with my phone and waited, many celebrities walked in at the last minute. I am glad I took the advice because I got my popcorn and got to walk in right next to Sterling K Brown (Who plays Lieutenant Destin Mattias in the film). Mission accomplished! Like I said, they gave us popcorn and sodas as we entered the theater and took our seats. I was seated in the third row on the right side of the theater. I could not believe how close we were to the action! Right before the film all of the stars of the film and the filmmakers proudly walked out on stage to present the movie to the audience. After that, they left the stage and walked directly into the crowd to take their seats with their family and friends and we all enjoyed the experience together.

Stay tuned for a full review of the movie coming soon! Not only did we get to view the film, but a few days later we got to attend the group press junket and hear the scoop about what the cast and filmmakers thought of how Frozen 2 came about and turned out.

Also, check out my previous post about what landed me on the red carpet to begin with!

About Frozen 2:

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough. From the Academy Award®-winning team—directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, producer Peter Del Vecho and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez—and featuring the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen 2” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2019.

If you’re looking for a fun, nostalgia filled fa If you’re looking for a fun, nostalgia filled family film to go see in the theaters this weekend- look no further! “Harold and the Purple Crayon“ is a great film to take the whole family to the theater to see. Day two started back at check in with a security s Day two started back at check in with a security sweep and then off to visit Mosquito River Lagoon where we learned about the very real impact that the lack of data can have on ecosystems when it comes to unintended impact. Specifically decisions that are made by people that have impact on the environment without data to back up the restoration of the impacted areas. From there we took the bus to visit Launch Pad 40 up close(-ish) and get a look at the Space X Falcon 9 rocket on the pad ready to launch and send the PACE satellite to space. After that we went to the most unassuming building at NASA with probably the biggest impact, Hangar AE- Launch Services Program Communication Center. This is also called the Mission Director’s Center. This is what you see on TV when you see the “command” center. It is actually a series of rooms that are collection and storing data nonstop. We got a chance to practice calling the launch and toured the facility. We even saw the door that had all of the mission director patches on it! We then toured the Cape Canaveral Space Force Museum and got to see a lot of artifacts and interesting items and recreations of the history of the military operations regarding space that happened prior to the Apollo and Shuttle missions. It is also a former launch site, which means I have now seen 3 in real life. Our final stop for Day Two was at the Neil A. Armstrong Operations and Checkout Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. We got to check out the emergency rocket escape vehicle called the MRAP. It is a former military vehicle that has found new purpose after being used in Afghanistan and now is used to protect rocket crews if something goes wrong during launch. As we were leaving we got to do something every single astronaut has done since the start of manned space missions: walk the ramp! This is the same ramp that all astronauts walk down to get into the transport vehicle that takes them to their rocket or shuttle. Day One recap of #NASAsocial for the PACE mission! Day One recap of #NASAsocial for the PACE mission! First, we arrived at press check in & rode the bus to our first stop of the day to spend some time in the classroom learning all about PACE! PACE stands for Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem. Then we headed to the press room & for a press conference for NASAtv with all female scientists & leaders of the PACE mission. This important open sourced data will be an amazing step towards combating climate change. Next we all took a moment to take pictures at the countdown clock & outside of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB). This building is surprising on so many levels. One of the biggest surprises being just how big it truly is. It's sort of an optical illusion from the outside. You cannot truly process it's size until you are inside. Guess what we did next? We went inside of the VAB and geeked out of course! That was a wrap on Day One, and we were gifted admission to Kennedy Space Center, so some of us went over to visit my favorite girl Atlantis. #KeepingPACE PACE will advance the assessment of ocean health by measuring the distribution of phytoplankton, tiny plants and algae that sustain the marine food web. #NASAsocial #KeepingPACE
