Smile Brilliant: A gift to myself and a review you can use!
July 24, 2018“I was generously provided with a Smile Brilliant teeth whitening system for the purposes of this review, but all opinions are my own. Also, I am not a medical professional. If you have questions that require a medical opinion, please consult your dentist.”
A whiter smile? At my age? With little kids that force you to sustain yourself on coffee and wine? I wasn’t sure it was possible. I really was a skeptic going in and wasn’t sure why, I was so sure I wanted to try it out and see how it went.
I grew up with stains on my teeth. I was always told that the yellow stains came from fluoride pills that my mom took when she was pregnant. I’m not sure if that’s true, but the stains were there nonetheless. Eventually I grew to just accept them and do my best to keep my teeth clean and healthy. Unfortunately, through the years the stains have gotten worse and though they are not awful, no one would consider my smile to be dazzlingly white. I have a lot to smile about and I smile a lot. I guess it has just become a “flaw” I adjusted to. But as soon as the opportunity to review this product came along, I surprised myself with how quickly I jumped at it!
When the kit arrived, I was very excited and jumped right on Facebook live to tell everyone about it. Part of that was because I was so excited and the other part was to hold myself accountable because I tend to not put myself first and carve out time for things that I want to do.
Here is a list of the things that your initial kit includes:
- 2 impression trays
- Catalyst pastes
- Base pastes
- Measuring syringes
- Desensitizing gel
- Whitening gel
- Instructions for creating your impressions
- Instructions on how to use the system
- Return card and postage paid envelope to return your trays to have impressions made
Once you get your kit is important to follow the instructions carefully (they are very well written and the company is really responsive to answering any questions). You need to make impressions of your teeth and send the molds back in order to receive your whitening trays. This process is relatively fast considering what it is, but takes a few weeks. To be honest, I sort of forgot about them until they arrived back at the house.
I should’ve realized that something that is not an immediate process would probably fall into my old habit of not putting myself first. I was not as consistent with giving myself the time to do the trays nightly, which may or may not have affected the outcome of my whitening results. Personally, I love my results! I didn’t expect to see my teeth get so white! Because my staining comes from the inside of my teeth as well as the outside, my teeth are a bit porous and patchy. I don’t think many people have that issue, so that result seems pretty specific to my type of teeth. I will say though, I did not experience the tooth sensitivity I expected. I have always had sensitive teeth when it comes to hot and cold, and I was fully prepared for this to affect me as well. I did notice that is soon as the whitening gel came off there was a heightened sense of sensitivity, but I applied the sensitivity gel immediately and the feeling was gone.
Also, make sure you take before and after pictures to really see your changes. Though every time I applied the whitening gel I did notice an immediate brightening, the before and after photos really showed the progress my teeth made.
I highly recommend this product. Give yourself the gift of a bright smile. It is a bit of a process, but investing in yourself is ultimately worth it and will give you a reason to show off that brilliant smile.
